Pets in bonded pairs stick together through good times and bad. Why not hold a wedding ceremony to commemorate this wonderful union, which will last forever? Two elderly pit bulls up for adoption, Fran and Earl, did precisely that. The couple’s “puptials” were conducted by the Homeward Animal Shelter in Fargo, North Dakota, and included a canine guest list dressed to the nines. There was a cake and a marriage license that was inscribed with Fran and Earl’s paw prints as if it couldn’t get much prettier.
Fran and Earl are looking for a forever home, thus the charming doggie wedding is intended to show off their devoted natures. “We want people to realize what fantastic pets these are. However, They are adorable dogs that are nice. They merit the best possible house and attention. They are just amazing, said Heather Klefstad, a representative for the Homeward Animal Shelter.
Older canines Fran and Earl shared a home before entering the shelter; they were forced there after their owner could no longer care for them. Until they can be adopted permanently, the pair is presently living in a foster family. Without a doubt, where one goes, the other follows. Earl is described as Fran’s “one true love” in the shelter bio, and the two enjoy cuddling and sleeping in together.
For Fran and Earl, the wedding festivities aren’t ended yet either. On Tuesday, July 19 at Rheault Farm in Fargo, the Homeward Animal Shelter will host an official “reception” for them as part of its annual PAWS Walk fundraiser.
