In nature, there are occasionally some truly depressing situations. The majority of them were caused by people. This tale is really tragic.
Have you ever witnessed animals pleading with humans for assistance? If not, have a look at this enormous sperm whale who requested assistance from a diver.
The largest brains of any animal that has ever lived, sperm whales are extraordinarily intelligent. They are calm, enormous beasts that only consume squid that they capture while diving. It is believed that their intelligence is what allowed them to ask for assistance.
Hugues Vitry, a well-known Mauritanian environmentalist and underwater photographer, experienced this amazing moment. In addition to managing the diving center, Vitry serves as the vice president of the Marine Megafauna Conservation Organization.
He has also freed a whale from ropes that had trapped it. The goal of Vitry is to help and preserve aquatic life. He thinks that even one person may have a significant impact. The whale rolls its enormous body sideways as it gets close to him before opening her jaw to indicate to the diver that she needs help.
He focuses his camera on Vitry while the whale swims next to her and describes what he sees. We can infer despite the ambiguous wording that he saw blood and that the hook was affixed to the whale close to the tooth.
The huge whale didn’t seem to mind as he took the hook out of its mouth. And that’s not all! Vitry was particularly surprised when, after trying to reassure the whale that the trauma was over, it appeared to linger for a while.
The whale looked to be thanking him in return. He gave the whale a bear hug as a way of signaling completion. After a while, the sperm whale stood up and displayed behaviors that could be read as thanks.
Even embracing the whale, Vitry placed his head against hers and spoke softly to her.

Thats fantastic. How wonderful to be able to show some kindness to the whale. Especially after they have been treated so badly by humans over centuries! Good that the whale felt it could trust the diver.
I have been a sports diver since the 1980s diving all round the UK and various places around the world and I feel envious of that experience. Its very humbling. How good to have the opportunity to help a sea creature and give something back to nature.

This is truly amazing and heartwarming it makes a change that a human is helping this beautiful creature instead of trying to kill it. Thank you very much kind human 🥰
