By Seeking Refuge On a Man’s Boat, An Otter Manages to Avoid the Jaws of A Killer Whale

A close encounter between a killer whale and its prey, an otter, was recently spotted by John Dornellas, 37.

Donellas experienced a near-death experience right before her eyes while exploring Alaska and working for a firm that offers boat trips in the area.

Dornellas was out on his boat when he observed something in the water that he didn’t like. To escape being eaten by a killer whale, he observed something swimming closer and closer to his boat. As an otter flees to escape being killed, you can see the whale’s dorsal fin approaching. Suddenly, the otter leaps from the water and sprints to the boat, where Donellas is taken aback by what he sees.

“Are you kidding me?” I exclaimed. While filming the meeting, Donellas talked openly. ,,Man, go back inside,” he said the otter. The otter remains safe on the boat for the next few minutes as the killer whale circles its target. The otter returns to the sea at one point, but suddenly changes its mind and prefers the boat.

The otter eventually jumped back into the water as the killer whale moved away from the boat, ending the close encounter.

Press play on the video below to see this extraordinary experience. We’re delighted this little guy’s story ended happily!
