The Crested Kingfisher has a striking appearance. With their shaggy Mohawks, these birds appear so awesome. I’m sure you’ve heard of this popular hairdo. They were born with it, and it was a stylish one.
The gorgeous coat is also found on large kingfishers. On the back and wings, the beautiful white plumage is flecked with black. These characteristics can help them stand out in the avian world.
Male and female crested kingfishers may be distinguished by the feathers on their chests. The male has some bright orange feathers on his breast, whilst the female has not.
Crested kingfishers are found in portions of Asia’s south. They are most usually seen in the highlands and slopes along rivers, both small and big. For food, they go fishing and crayfishing.
These birds have been known to build their nests on overhangs, branches, and partially submerged logs.
These kingfishers, unlike other birds, lay their eggs in a barrow dug into a vertical bank. Males and females both participate in the job. The female will incubate the eggs on her own when there are 4-7 eggs. The male will assist the female in feeding the chicks until they are completely grown, which takes around 40 days.
