In the hopes that she would find a devoted family, a Good Samaritan found Mac walking the streets of Pasco, Washington and took her to Tri-Cities Animal Shelter.
Sweet, positive Mac started putting her paws through the bars of her cage, inviting people to hold hands as they passed by in the midst of so many other canines seeking for attention.
Someone eventually did.
“Me and a lot of other volunteers loved her!” Volunteer at the shelter Julie Saraceno spoke with The Dodo. “I was hooked on her the moment she barked at me through her kennel,” said the owner.
The black Lab mix was a cute and loving dog who was well-known at the shelter for her intelligence, love of humans, and excitement for walks.
Mac quickly realized that pawing at people through the bars would result in her receiving more love and attention. Additionally, it persuaded bystanders to give her extra treats.
Saraceno uploaded a video of the Lab to social media in the hopes that Mac would find her forever family. The video quickly gained popularity.

Soon, messages from people requesting to adopt Mac began to flood in.
After watching the video, a woman from Montana traveled a long distance to check if Mac was a good match. They clicked right away, and Mac found a new place to call home.
“I shed joyful tears!” said Saraceno.
Now that she is no longer confined by the kennel’s icy metal bars, Mac no longer needs to incessantly paw at people for attention because her devoted family is always close by.
