The Dracula Parrot Is Real, And It Is Horrifyingly Gorgeous

This parrot will charm you whether you enjoy the goth and vampire subculture or not.

Except for the occasional zoo, this parrot is mostly found in the jungles of New Guinea. It is uncommon to see one outside of that environment or in captivity.

These big parrots can grow to be more than 50 cm tall. Small red spots are the only physical difference between male and female parrots.

Unfortunately, because their feathers are so exquisite, New Guineans still hunt them because poachers still find their feathers to be valuable.

As if that weren’t odd enough, they make strange noises in addition to having an odd appearance.

These Dracula parrots make noises that can resemble a growl rather than singing or whistling like other parrots usually do. Picture meeting face-to-face with one of these parrots after hearing those sounds in the middle of the night in the New Guinean woods.
