What a sweet story with a joyful ending, and the family will be immensely blessed by the dog.
Strays that have been spared from a harsh life on the streets seldom forget the compassionate humans who helped them. Things for Chunk didn’t seem promising at first. According to lexnau.com, the puppy was severely “neglected” before being abandoned and chained to a tree.
After months of “neglect” and “abuse,” Chunk was “dumped” on a chilly October night.
Fortunately, Chunk was passed by some Sacramento firefighters who were headed to a call. The firefighters picked up Chunk, who was still there and still bound to the same tree, and carried her back to the station with them.
The sad dog was cared for by the kind firefighters. She was in need of affection more than anything else, despite having mange and swollen legs. The dog needed to see a vet immediately because, despite their good intentions, the firefighters were undoubtedly not vets.
The men dropped Chunk off at the Front Street Animal Shelter the following morning so she could get the care she so desperately needed. Her mange was cured very away, and the caregivers put her in a shirt to keep her warm while her fur grew back.
He went to see her the following day, and it was obvious to everyone that Chunk was really appreciative of everything he had done for her. She climbed him, gave him a kiss, and never stopped wagging her tail.
The firefighter and his family adopted the sweet Pitbull shortly after meeting her. They had to wait four months for her to complete her thorough mange treatment because they were so determined to offer her a home.
Thank you so much for saving this adorable and priceless puppy and providing her with a lifelong home. Good luck to you both; you are heroes!
