Friends are a precious gift not only for humans but also for animals. You are indeed lucky if you have best friends!

It is no secret that the various animal species living in our world can form amazingly strong and wonderful friendships. But here is a more meaningful and unusual friendship between the little pigeon and the cute puppy.

This is a perfect example of how friendship is not about looks or being of the same species or age.

Herman and Lundy’s friendship is a wonderful and beautiful friendship between two incredible creatures that can melt the hearts of even the inhuman people of this world.

Herman is an unusual bird like no other. Unfortunately, Herman cannot fly. The bird was rescued by Sue Rogers, founder of the Mia Foundation, who had seen him sitting in the same spot in a parking lot for several days.

No one wanted to take the helpless bird. But Sue offered to take Herman. She wanted to make sure Herman could have a wonderful life with other rescued animals like him at Sue’s shelter in Rochester, New York.

Although he would never be able to fly again, he was lucky enough to come to the shelter with Sue, who loved taking care of Sue’s newborn puppies at the shelter.

Herman wanted to hang out with these little puppies often until they grew up and found their own home.

This is how Herman met his lovely friend Lundy.

Lundy, like Herman, is an unfortunate pet. He was born with Swimmers syndrome or (Swimming-puppy syndrome). As a result, he could not use his back legs.

Because they are both born sick, Herman and Lundy’s bond is sparked upon their first meeting.

“Thursday night I took Herman out of his playpen to give him some time out and I put him in a dog bed. Then I had to tend to Lundy so I put Lundy in with him. They just looked really cute together so I took some pictures and posted them to Facebook and the next morning it was crazy,” Sue recalled.

This wonderful pairing of these two is amazing! Needless to say, they became best friends. There was such a strong bond between them that no one could separate!

Some fans of the duo even asked to adopt Lundy. However, Lundy wasn’t ready for that, and Sue didn’t want to separate them either. They lived life loving each other like no one else could.

(Update: Sadly, Lundy passed away a few months later, but their amazing friendship will be remembered forever! Herman and Lundy’s story has been turned into a book and The Mia Foundation plans to create a series of children’s books starting with this wonderful book. )
