The adoption of disfigured animals is typically more difficult, but this dog “got lucky.” Lisa, a 10-week-old dog, was brought to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley with infected eyelids that needed surgery as well as scars all over her face. Prior to Christine Doblar and her family entering the building, the shelter personnel had doubts that they could find a home for the dog.
Doblar told The Dodo, “My girls were freaking out the whole time that someone else was going to kidnap her. She may have an odd appearance, but she has a beautiful, vibrant personality. We looked at a few other dogs, but none could compare to the way she came to each of us and greeted everyone with the same amount of love and joy. The family returned the following day and took in Lisa, giving her the name “Lucky.”

She simply has an amazing, bright personality… We examined a couple more dogs, but none could match it.
The family chose to adopt her that day and changed her name to Lucky since “we’re both lucky.”
